Gaming in 2012

So it seems my wallet will be screaming what with Skyrim, Arkham City, and MW3 coming out yeah that's just the start.

We all knew.

Being a gamer would be expensive, but none of us expected franchises like Mass Effect would take off the way it did, pretty sure Bioware's happy about that. It's just amazing that games have come such a long way, from beeps in DOS, to full on 3D game play. Of course, it's not just about your typical fighter or shooter game these days, there's choices, and gamers have lots of them.

From DanceDanceRevolution, Rock Band and back to Dance Games, the trend is high and low, games like Pokemon still remain on top without changing their formula. The biggest thing has been story, and hours of game play. If we're dropping sixty dollars on a game, there'd better be hours, and hours, and hours of game play.

Mountain Dew, and Lays Potato Chips are your friends and leaving the house just isn't even thought of.

There are some Gamers who get out, us casual folk who bump around from Bewejeled to Puzzle Quest.

Looking at the next year of gaming and looking back on three decades of gaming history, we've come a long way and we're still climbing.

Hardware is outpacing software by a long stretch, as it is just now catching up to dual core, let alone a quad or hex core. [I myself have a hex core]

Console gaming is huge but PC gaming is just as large with games like Counter Strike still chugging along, ten years later. When we all look back, and look out now to Arkham City, Skyrim, and MW3 it makes you think. The generation that was born with a mouse and keyboard, will probably be the innovative generation for gaming as we are the big drivers.

I look forward to a new year of gaming, catch you n00bs on the flipside.
